Director and teacher, Jackie is in her 36th year of Montessori education. After three years as head teacher at the Montessori Learning Center downtown, and eight years of teaching/directing the only Montessori/Head Start inner-city program, she came back to GMS where she originally interned in 1976. Both of her children attended GMS, then Xavier Montessori and are now grown. She became the owner of GMS in 1978 and began teaching here in 1986. She has her Bachelor degree in Elementary Education from the University of Cincinnati and her Masters in Montessori Education from Xavier University.
Leslie Massey returns as our Kindergarten/afternoon this year. Leslie has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, a Masters in Library Science and a Master of Education degree from Xavier University, with Montessori Certification. In addition to 3-6 year old certification, she has completed the classes for Montessori Certification for ages 6-9. Leslie and her husband reside in Anderson Township with their 2 cats. They have one adult son, who was student in Montessori Schools up through 12 years of age.
Hokyoung is going to be a substitute teacher for us for the 2017-2018 school year. Hokyoung has a Master of Education degree from Xavier University and is certified by the American Montessori Society for Early Childhood Education. She began teaching Montessori Preschool and Kindergarten here at GMS in 2000, taught in New York City in 2006 and 2007 and rejoined our staff in 2008.
Jackie S. will be returning as an Assistant Teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. She has a Bachelor's Degree and is considering returning to school to work on her Montessori Certification. Jackie (2), as the students call her, will be handling our after school childcare program.
Marcia will be returning as an Assistant Teacher for the 2017-2018 School Year. Marcia has her Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, and has worked for many years with young children. We will be sharing her time with her new grandson, whom she will be watching 2 days a week this year.
In addition to working on Tuesdays, Sunny Rhein will be a substitute teacher for us for the 2017-2018 school year. Sunny has a Master of Education degree from Xavier University and is certified by the American Montessori Society for Early Childhood Education. Sunny not only brings her many years of Montessori experience to our classroom, she is also a naturalist and shares her love of the natural world with our students. Sunny resides in Anderson with her husband.
Liz has retired from teaching, but has agreed to substitute occasionally for the 2017-1018 school year. She will also be working in the school office occasionally. Liz lives in Milford, Ohio with her dog "child."
